Brief about the role
The role requires an MBBS with strong leadership skills, regulatory compliance knowledge, and the ability to manage both people and processes. This individual will be responsible for leading the medical team and ensuring compliance with DGCA regulations, as well as managing operational and logistical functions effectively.
Educational Qualification
- MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery) – Mandatory
Experience
- Prior experience in regulatory compliance, manpower management, medical consultation, logistics, and training
- Experience in aviation, airport operations, or similar medical environments is highly preferred
- Must maintain DGCA Class II Medical Examiner status
Skill set:
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Strong working knowledge of DGCA Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR)

Key Responsibilities:
1. Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure Breath Analyzer (BA) testing is conducted strictly as per DGCA guidelines
- Oversee certification and compliance of:
- First Aid Kits (FAK)
- Medical Kits (MK)
- Universal Precaution Kits (UPK)
- Prepare for, coordinate, and support DGCA and internal audits, ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements
- Stay updated with DGCA CARs, medical protocols, and internal company policies
2. Administrative/Logistic Management:
- Oversee the stock of daily-use items (e.g., tubes, batteries, medicines, stationery) and ensure timely availability.
- Supervise the serviceability of equipment like CCTV, BA machines, UV boxes, and upkeep of BA rooms
- Raise proper indents to ensure timely stock availability.
3. Medical Consultation & Operational Support
- Provide medical consultation to:
- Flight crew
- Airport staff
- Passengers (as and when required)
- Handle Passenger Medical Clearances (MEDA) in line with IATA guidelines and company policies
- Conduct fitness and sickness assessments for:
- Certify and manage medical kits used on aircraft
5. Training Role:
- Conduct training sessions on first aid and occupational health topics for IndiGo employees.
- Provide training to new paramedics on BA testing.
