Job Description

This role involves setting up and operating conventional, special purpose, and CNC machines to fabricate and repair metallic and non-metallic parts in a clean, safety-focused aerospace manufacturing environment. You will interpret technical documentation, perform precise machining operations, and verify that all parts meet strict specifications using precision measuring tools.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate conventional, special purpose, and computerized numeric control (CNC) machines to fabricate and repair metallic and non-metallic parts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine machining requirements, machine settings, and set-up parameters.
  • Perform complete machine set-ups, including installing and aligning fixtures, tools, attachments, and accessories according to job specifications.
  • Prepare machines for production by performing routine, operator-level maintenance and verifying that set-up documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Use precision measuring devices such as micrometers and calipers to inspect parts and ensure all dimensions and tolerances meet required specifications.
  • Monitor machining operations, make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency, and address issues that arise during production.
  • Collaborate with team members in your production cell and with cross-functional groups such as Quality and Engineering to resolve technical or quality-related issues.
  • Follow established process flows within the cell, ensuring consistency and adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop policies and procedures.
  • Train on first shift for several months to learn processes, equipment, and quality expectations before transitioning to the assigned shift.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of machining experience or training, including setting up fixtures, tools, attachments, and accessories.
  • Demonstrated experience or training in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine machining and set-up requirements.
  • Ability to set up and operate CNC machines and conventional equipment in a production environment.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring devices such as micrometers and calipers to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to train on first shift (Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) for 4–6 months depending on skill level.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety in a production setting.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-driven environment and communicate clearly with colleagues across different groups.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Technical trade school degree in machining.
  • Experience with FANUC controllers is strongly preferred.
  • Experience setting up and operating horizontal and/or vertical milling machines.
  • Prior experience working in a climate-controlled manufacturing or machining environment.
  • Comfort working within structured process flows and collaborating with Quality and Engineering teams.

Work Environment

This position is on second shift, Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with an initial training period on first shift (Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) for approximately 4–6 months depending on skill level. You will work in a fully climate-controlled environment across one of several operational buildings, where each production cell follows a similar process flow while handling different parts and components. The role is highly collaborative, involving regular interaction with team members in your cell as well as colleagues from other groups such as Quality and Engineering. The culture emphasizes a team-driven approach in which quality and safety are the highest priorities due to the nature and value of the components being produced and repaired. The shop is designed to be clean, ergonomic, and safe, supporting efficient and comfortable daily operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Springdale, AR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
